I have brand new standard 3 gang light switch for outside lights and porch .the only solution in the 21st century to have these lights come on with a timer is the mydome timer.ive tried amazon echo controlled switches, wifi switches and they are all crap.they keep disconnecting and are unreliable. The mydome timer physically switches the switch on and off with rollers moving up and down. This too to my amazement is very limited.the mydome timer can switch upto 3 switches on and off by using or removing the small rollers. The only problem is you cant programme it to switch individual lights on. The mechanism is one piece so if you have more than 1 light to control on the switch they will have to be programmed to come on and off all at the same time unless you remove the rollers, in doing so the only way to turn the other switch on is to remove the unit and switch it on by hand. So if you have more than a 1gang switch ie separate lights that you intended to be able to switch on and off separately. it's pointless. What's the point in having more than 1 switch if you can only switch them all on and off at the same time??? the entire point of having multiple switches is defeated. The mydome is advertised as being able to control upto 3 switches. why this cannot be designed to do them separately is beyond me. If you have 1 switch you want to turn on and off at certain times it's great.( albeit a bit of an agricultural solution to what should be a very simple ask in this day and age). In my view the entire design is flawed as it takes away the ability to control individual lights separately which is the very reason you have more than one switch. When fitting it as per instructions I had to fit the 2 plastic spacer to bring the switch closer to the rollers. That didn't work. I made 3 more spacers to get to work.so in summary. Yes it will switch lights on and off at the times you want and it seems to be the only reliable way of doing so currently without more wiring and control systems being installed. The only down side is if you have more than 1 switch you want to control be prepared to have them all on at the same time unless you want to remove the mydome timer and switch it manually.Read full review

Answers the question.."how can I switch the external lights on and off in my absence?"...Until a neater, electronic solution becomes available, this big boy does the job. It doesn't fit all switches, I had to cut out packing pieces for my switches even though they are pretty much the standard switches these days (they're not flush plates or recessed) You might also need longer switch plate screws if you add packing pieces) They do not fit thicker isolation switches like those used for immersion heaters. Be careful if fitting near an entrance door to ensure that the door doesn't foul the timer. They are quite noisy so you will hear the timer operating for a few seconds from nearby rooms.

Took me less than 5 minutes to install and set up this innovative light switch timer for an outside light. No wiring, no electrics just uses the existing light switch - genius. Have already recommended to 3 pals, who are about to buy.

It works well, you can take it off to program it but it is very bulky. I fail to see why no company has developed a wall plate timer that works with low energy bulbs yet. it seems straightforward enough if they use a battery to power the programmer.

The product does everything it claims to do. I have bought several in order to sequentially switch lights on and off in different areas of the house giving the impression that the house is occupied when we are away on holiday. The "0" program is a great idea turning lights on and off for a three minute period randomly between the hours of 1.00am and 5.0am. It appears that the designers have thought of everything even to the extent of including plastic inserts to be used, which I was required to do, to account for slightly narrow light switch units. One of my best buys.
